Probe IP (In Position)
Definition:
A Probe Bet is made on the turn or river, when the in-position player was not the preflop aggressor, and the out-of-position player checked.
So, Probe IP refers to how often a player in position takes a stab at the pot after the preflop raiser fails to c-bet.
Example:
-
Player A raises preflop (OOP), Player B calls in position.
-
Flop checks through.
-
On the turn, Player A checks again.
-
Player B now bets — this is a Probe IP.
Float
Definition:
A Float occurs when a player calls a continuation bet (c-bet) on the flop with the intention of betting later (usually on the turn) if the preflop aggressor checks.
Example:
-
Player A raises preflop and c-bets the flop.
-
Player B calls (the float).
-
On the turn, Player A checks.
-
Player B bets — completing the float.
Purpose: Often a semi-bluff or delayed bluff, targeting players who give up too easily after a c-bet.
Stab
Definition:
A Stab bet is made on the flop by the player who did not raise preflop, after the preflop aggressor fails to c-bet.
Example:
-
Player A raises preflop.
-
Player B calls.
-
Flop comes down.
-
Player A checks.
-
Player B bets — this is a Stab.
Why it matters: This stat shows how often players try to steal pots when the preflop raiser shows weakness on the flop.
Strategic Use in DriveHUD 2
These stats are found under post-flop aggression or bluffing categories in custom HUD popups or reports. High Stab or Probe frequencies can indicate aggressive, bluff-heavy players. High Float success rates can reveal who’s attacking after missed c-bets.
